2012-13 (Senior)

Montes earned the fourth best time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:02.76 at the SCAC Championships. Closing his career as one of the top distance swimmers, Montes also grabbed the third best time in the 1000 free at 11:00.26 vs. Austin College and in the 1650 free at the SCAC Championships.

2011-12 (Junior)

Montes broke a school record in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:29.90. He was also a member of the 400 Freestyle Relay team that broke a Southwestern record as well with a time of 3:15.93.  He was also selected to the Academic All-America Team and served as team captain. 

2010-11 (Sophomore)

Montes came in 13th place in the 1650 free at the SCAC Championships with a time of 17:31.58 and was a part of the 400 free relay team that shaved seven seconds off their time to finish in 3:18.52 and in seventh place. He was also a member of the 200 free relay team that finished in seventh place at the SCAC Championships with a time of 1:41.31. Montes also scored one point for the Pirates in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.02.

2009-10 (First-year)

Montes swam a season best time of 52.72in the 100 free and posted the second fastest time in the 200 free, 1:53.07. He was the top SU swimmer in the 500 free, 1000 free and 1650 free with times of 5:06.38, 10.42.97 and 17:30.05, respectively. He was also selected to the Academic All-America Team. 

High School

Stephen is a 2009 graduate of Nolan Catholic High School in Ft. Worth, TX.  Stephen is a four time All-State selection for TAPPS and TISCA in the 200 and 500 freestyle.  Stephen was also a 2008 and 2009 member of the Academic All-State swim team. 

Personal

Stephen is the son of Louis and Teresa and has one brother, Andrew.  Stephen is an accounting major at SU.
